Outside Sales staff is responsible for all sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory. This role will develop and implement the agreed-upon Company Marketing Plan. The individual will work toward the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values, and his/her own personal business goals.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for all steps of the sales process, including: preparing action plans by accounts and product line, effective search and follow-through of sales leads and new customersIdentify and execute on opportunities for up-sell and cross-sellEstablish rapport with customers, building long-term, repeat customer relationshipsBe proficient in product knowledge to assist the customer in buying decisionsProvide timely and accurate competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approvalMaintain accurate records of sales activity, sales, and pricingGather competitive market and pricing informationOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Education/Licensing/Experience Requirements:High School diploma requiredBachelor's degree preferredThree (3) to five (5) years sales experience preferredKnowledge of building materials and construction industry strongly preferredValid driver's license requiredThree-year motor vehicle history report must meet Company requirementsOther Competencies:Ability to self-manage, show initiative and be proactiveCommunicate professionally with coworkers and customers both verbally and in writingComfortable meeting the publicExperience in all aspects of supplier relationship managementStrong Microsoft Office skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to remain in stationary position 70% of shiftOccasionally, will move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.Must be able to operate basic office machineryConstantly, working in an office environmentMENTAL DEMANDS:Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasksMust be able to manage stress depending on tasksMust be able to multitaskMust be able to receive and analyze sales and financial informationMust be able to quickly communicate solutions if problems occurMust be able to demonstrate a high degree of sound judgementThis job description is subject to change at any time.Launch your career with a national building materials distributor and discover opportunities for growth and advancement.
