JOB
The incumbent will be reviewing and preparing for court law
enforcement body camera and squad camera footage. Responsible work
in the organization, administration, and operation of public safety
evidence and property facilities in the Sheriff's Office.The salary
range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2022. The full
salary range, including longevity pay, is $21.77 - $30.29 per hour.
This position is part of the Civil Service Basic Union Contract
represented by Council 5 of AFSCME.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
An employee in this class is responsible for coordinating evidence
and property facilities in the Sheriff's Office. Duties include
receiving, cataloging and storing and returning physical and
digital evidence; and taking photos in support of law enforcement
operations. The work is performed under the direction of assigned
supervisory staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary
depending on the specific position being filled. CONSTANT: Carry up
to 10 pounds, balance, feel, finger, grasp, handle, talk/speak,
hearing close proximity (0-5 feet), vision (near, midrange, and
color vision), works alone, works around others, and inside.
FREQUENT: Lift up to 10 pounds; carry up to 20 pounds, move about,
reach, sit, walk, wrist turn (right and left), vision (depth
perception), works with others, and drive. OCCASIONAL: Lift up to
20 pounds, carry up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, reach above
shoulder, stand, stoop/bend, twist (waist), hearing distance (up to
20 feet), headset, far vision, customers/public contact, extended
day, outside, exposure to weather, blood borne pathogens and
slippery surfaces. RARE: Lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders (up to
6 feet), crouch, squat, taste/smell, and clients with behavioral
challenges.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):Graduation from an accredited
college or university with an Associate's degree in forensic
science, law enforcement, criminal justice, or a closely related
field; OR two (2) years full-time paid verifiable experience in
record keeping, data entry, inventory management; OR one (1) year
full-time paid verifiable experience handling evidence in a law
enforcement property room; OR an equivalent combination of
education and/or experience as determined by the Director of Human
Resources and Administration.Successful completion of an
International Association for Property and Evidence (IAPE)
certification for Evidence and Property Room Management AND
completion of a Basic Crime Scene Course and a Basic Crime Scene
Photography Course for Minnesota Law Enforcement within one (1)
year of employment. Failure to obtain the certification and
completion of the two (2) courses prior to the conclusion of the
probationary period will result in termination from the position.
Possession of a valid driver's license.RATING SYSTEMS:Supplemental
