- JOB SUMMARY
- The Evening Processing Clerk, is responsible for retrieving
medical records for patients admitted to the Hospital or patients
seen in the Emergency Department, collecting discharge records,
filing medical records in permanent file and functioning as
receptionist during the evening hours. Provides weekend and holiday
coverage on a clerical rotation basis.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent or must graduate
within thirty (30) days of starting the position.

- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of basic filing procedures; keyboarding experience
preferred. Ability to understand and follow oral and written
instructions, work independently, demonstrate good judgement in
determining work priorities, understand and comply with policies
and procedures related to confidentiality, establish and maintain
good working relationships with fellow employees, and work in an
environment with interruptions, high noise levels, people and
equipment congestion, dust, extreme temperature and humidity
variations. Ability to concentrate for an entire workday performing
the same task with a high level of accuracy, demonstrate attention
to detail with high levels of accuracy, place 6-, 7- and 8-digit
numbers into proper numerical order, and file reports in correct
medical record and in correct order of assembly.
- READING - Basic: Ability to read and comprehend simple
instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- WRITING - Basic: Ability to write simple correspondence.
- SPEAKING - Basic: Ability to speak simple sentences.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract
two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money
and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- REASONING ABILITY - Basic Skills: Ability to apply common sense
understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to deal
with standardized situations with only occasional variables.

- Typical Noise Level - Moderate noise (examples: business office
with computers and printers, light traffic)
- WORKING CONDITIONS
- Environmental background noise from office machines, overhead
page system, etc. Dust generated in handling of paper files.
Employees are also exposed to dust when accessing paper MR's in the
primary file room. Office temperature variations of ten (10)
degrees.
