Position Summary:As we continue to experience the effects of the global pandemic, there's never been a more important time to support the health and wellness of our communities. Take action and help meet urgent public health needs. By offering your time and talent as a Public Health Project Coordinator, you can help build site capacity to deliver critical services in your community. Public Health Corps provides you with valuable, hands-on experience in public health, plus career coaching and support from public health experts. You provide the skills, dedication and time that our communities need.We are currently recruiting for the 2022-23 program year with opportunities beginning in August, October or January. Your commitment to Public Health Corps will be 40 or 25 hours per week. This is an AmeriCorps member position with Public Health Corps. Join an amazing cohort of Public Health Project Coordinators from all backgrounds and experiences.What to Expect:Help facilitate data collection and survey administration.Engage community members in focus groups and public health conversations.Advance health and racial equity initiatives.Support contact tracing programs and implement COVID-19 education campaigns.Participate in ongoing training and professional development.Gain hands-on experience in public health while embedded in a local agency.Share your experience with the wider community as a Public Health Corps ambassador.Location Specific Activities:Project 1: Child and Teen Check-up Outreach: Collaboration with community members; update and modify region-specific resources; lead engagement opportunities with individuals and community members, evaluation and update community resources, complete outreach activities and track services provided through documentation of activities.Prjoect 2: Monitor and analyze public health policy and priorities at the local, state, and national levels. Research public health policy to advise and inform internal public health leadership and staff on current policy issues, collaborate with partners, communities, and individuals, including those disproportionately affected by outdated laws, policies, and ordinances, to analyze, understand, and update these outdated laws, policies, and individuals with consideration of the perspective of lived experiences, educate the community, internal public health professionals, and key partners on public health laws' meaning, purpose, and benefits.Perks Package:Give your time as a Public Health Project Coordinator and receive a scalable perks package based on your time commitment.40 hours/week perks:A stipend of $1,100 paid every 2 weeks$15,400 total for 1,000 hours of service from January 2023 - July 2023$25,300 total for 1,700 hours of service from January 2023 - December 2023Up to $6,495 for tuition or student loans*Federal student loan forbearance and interest repaymentIndividual health insurance - Monthly premium 100% coveredChild care assistance - Based on family size and income25 hours/week perks:A stipend of $650 paid every 2 weeks$8,450 total for 450 hours of service from January 2023 - July 2023$14,950 total for 975 hours of service from January 2023 - December 2023Up to $3,247 for tuition or student loans*Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment*The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child or stepchild.What it Takes:Our Project Coordinators come from all walks of life. The most important qualification is a passion to take action for your community - and meet the following minimum qualifications. By the time they begin their service, our Project Coordinators are:Dependable and have a history of good attendanceAble to manage projects Set a pace and maintain a service schedule of 40 hours per weekComfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel); competent completing internet searches and navigating resources online; and have experience with using e-mail regularly.Fluent in English 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalentA citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States*Able to successfully complete a background check*Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.Want to Learn More?: Click here to view the position description.About our Organization:Public Health Corps is powered by AmeriCorps members who are on a mission to meet urgent public health needs.
