Job Description:

Propulsion engineers work primarily in the aerospace industry to design blueprints for engines, control systems, propellant systems, propulsion systems, and components like pressurized tanks, compressors or pumps. Helping with the construction of propulsion components and the addition of those components to spacecraft or aircraft. They strive to improve the performance and reliability of rocket motors, jet engines, and compressors. Job Requirements:Duties:

  • Analyze the needs of the system and translate into verifiable performance and design requirements
  • Evaluate all customer requirements and flow down in specifications and determine implementation approach
  • Determine verification methodology and approach for each requirement
  • Use a requirements management database to document requirements applicable to the system
  • Evaluate results of verification processes and validate results against system requirements
  • Integrate customer directed changes into the system and facilitate implementation of changes within a change management system
  • Coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders, including customers, all things related to requirements, implementation of requirements and verification, and resolution of problems and issues
  • Develop model architecture for model based integration of requirements, design, analysis, and verification Skills & Qualifications: A candidate qualified for this position should have the following demonstrated skills and experience:
    • Understanding--of requirements and basic principles of verification approach
    • Ability and skills to work multi-disciplined engineering problems
    • Bachelor---s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience, or 8 years of experience with a Master---s degree.
    • Experience working on aircraft turbine engine and/or piston powerplant installations including nacelles, inlets, propeller, fire suppression systems, engine control and fuel systems.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
    • Distinguishing Qualifications
    • Experience with Windchill PDM and Creo/Pro-E.
    • Familiarity with Fuel Tank Ignition Prevention per Part 25.981
    • Experience working on aircraft structures: airframe, loads, metallic and composite structural parts.
    • Experience working on flight sciences: envelopes, speeds, loads, stability and control
    • Familiarity with SAE ARP4754A & ARP4761 guidelines and procedures and ASTM standards.
    • Experience working on type certification of an aircraft from start to finish under any of 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/33/35/36 or equivalent regulations.
    • Worked on safety-critical complex systems with hardware and software per DO-178 and DO-254.
    • Experience in system validation & verification, including assembling validation, writing system test procedure, conducting integration testing, troubleshooting problem reports.
    • Familiarity with DO-160 environmental testing
    • Proficiency in PLM and CAD software
