Kind of Work

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2021. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $24.38 - $34.03 per hour.

Administrative work applying an extensive body of specialized departmental procedures, rules and/or operational methods to supervise, plan, direct and monitor the customer service and information processing functions of a department.

This position is part of the Civil SupervisoryContract represented by St. Louis County Employee Association.

Please Note:The incumbent will be required to be located and travel up to two days per week to either Duluth or Virginia pending location preference.

Distinguishing Features of Work

An employee in this class performs a wide variety of inter-related, non routine procedural assignments, and resolves a wide range of operational problems related to administrative support functions. Duties include interpreting and adjusting established policies and procedures for specific situations by using precedence and reasoning in accordance with defined objectives; planning and implementing work activities or projects and resolving information processing and customer service issues; and supervising the work of assigned staff. Within the limits of defined departmental policy, the employee is given the authority to make decisions which impact the operations and employee and customer relations of the work unit. The work is performed under the general direction of a department supervisor or appointing authority.

Selection Process

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):

  • The equivalent of nine years of full-time general clerical experience and training; ORAn associate degree (2 years) in Office Management or related field AND six (6) years experience in a clerical support position, three (3) years of which must have been in a lead worker capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate personal computer based systems.
  • Proficiency in operation of word processing software.
  • Ability to type from clear copy at a rate of 40 w.p.m./net.

RATING SYSTEMS:

Typing and Word Proficiency Assessment (Pass/Fail):

After submitting an application, applicants will receive a notification to schedule their typing and word proficiency assessments via their candidate profile. Virtual and in person testing will be offered on the pre-determined dates listed in your candidate profile. Once applicants have logged in and scheduled their assessment another notification will be sent confirming your assessment date and time along with the test link and Webex meeting invite.

To participate in the online computerized written assessment, you must have readily available picture identification, lap top or desktop computer, web cam and microphone. Calculators are permitted. However, digital cameras and other communication devices containing calculator functions are NOT permitted. Please allow 1-1/2 hours for this assessment.

The typing and word proficiency assessment must be completed by: Thursday, June 17, 2021.

It is highly recommended that you schedule your assessment as soon as possible.
