The person whom fills this position will become an integral team
member of Research & Development Engineering who is tasked with the
development of airplane models and new technologies intended for
evaluation on next generation of Cirrus aircraft. The primary role
of a Finishing Technician is the generation of the tooling package
needed to create the airplane composite components along with all
aspects relating to the interior and exterior of Cirrus airplanes.
These efforts would include generating low volume composite molds,
painting of components and new model airplanes, and fabrication and
installation of interior components. The candidate must be well
versed in the use of tools such as primer/paint guns, sanders,
grinders, buffers, and numerous simple hand tools. Candidates
filling this role must excel in a highly diverse team environment
as well as be proficient enough to work independently and able to
trouble shoot when problems arise. Applicants must have a high
attention to detail and a strong desire to continually learn new
fabrication and assembly methods.
- Familiarity with the processes tied to generating low volume
tooling including hand layup, pattern sanding, application of
gel-coat, and spraying primer and paint.
- A solid understanding of how multi-component products like
resin, gel-coat, primer, and paint are portioned and properly
- Excellent attention to detail enabling the fabrication of
complex interior components and the patience to work thru the
- Strong creative mind that excels at solving problems and can
successfully collaborate with a wide audience during the
development of new technologies and designs.
- Uses specifications, drawings, and verbal instructions to
layout a fabrication plan and determine sequence of operations
prior to building the end product.
- Ability to safely and efficiently use a wide variety of body
working tools including sanders, buffers, paint guns, and
traditional hand tools.
- Ability to change a job task at a moment's notice and a strong
drive for continuous improvement and learning new skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. No certifications are
required for this position however a minimum of three years of
industry experience in a relevant field is required. Other industry
certificates including Auto Body Technology, Upholstery, or Welding
(GMAW) are considered a plus.
