The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2021. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $36.72 - $52.08 per hour.

This position is part of theCivil Service Supervisory Unitrepresented by the St. Louis County Employees Association.

Highly responsible and specialized administrative work managing the St. Louis County Jail/Corrections Division.

Distinguishing Features of Work

An employee in this class is administratively responsible for the operations and programs of the Jail/Corrections Division of the County Sheriff's Office. Areas of responsibility include the following: establishing detention security plans, policies and procedures; ensures the Duluth, Hibbing and Virginia facilities are in compliance with State and Federal codes and standards; administering staff supervision and budget management functions of the division; directing the planning, development and administration of inmate reintegration programs; coordinating jail/corrections services with criminal justice agencies; and directing the administration of support activities including information systems, food service, plant maintenance and contracted services. The work is performed in accordance with established criminal justice/corrections system regulations under the general direction of the St. Louis County Sheriff.

Selection Process

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (PASS/FAIL):

  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, social science, corrections administration, police science, education or a related field; AND four years full-time paid experience in a supervisory or responsible program/operations coordinator position in a criminal justice agency or detention facility.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

RATING SYSTEM:Supplemental Questions will be 100% of the scoring process:

Points will be awarded based on the applicants answers to supplemental questions 5-10.

Appointees to the position must successfully complete a twelve month probationary period prior to being certified for permanent employment.
