Our employees are driven by diverse and challenging projects while being able to make meaningful contributions to essential industries.This position provides leadership in the Survey Program and manages all aspects of survey projects including schedule, budget, scope, workflow and project personnel. The Professional Land Surveyor functions as a liaison for internal and external clients and acts as a communication link between the office and field. Responsible for training and mentoring survey staff. Also, serves as LSC subject matter expert on all aspects of land surveying.Responsibilities:Perform boundary/control surveying and mapping, research, horizontal and vertical control,Conduct public record researchWriting descriptions for purchasing of right of way and easements, prepare and certify right of way and easement platsMaintain and operate instruments, measuring devices and other field equipment, coordinate equipment rental as needed.Coordinate scheduling with local survey personnel and with other LSC offices as needed. Create and execute project work plans Prepares and/or authorizes proposals, project budgets, and client presentationsDelegate work assignments to team membersManage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scopeEffectively apply our procedures and enforce project standardsPerform reviews and quality assurance proceduresPerform land surveys in compliance with technical regulations and professional standard of careSupervise and be responsible for survey work performed by field crews and techniciansMentor and train survey staff to develop their capabilitiesInteract effectively with clients and colleagues in the field and officeProvide business development to build and expand the Survey ProgramResearch and implement new technologies and applicationsEstablish field survey and drafting protocol and proceduresPrepare and present survey proposals and reportsPrepare and close out documentsRequirements:Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Minnesota and willingness to gain licensure in other statesBachelor's degree in Land Surveying or a related fieldMinimum of ten years of survey experience Strong knowledge of Public Land Survey System (PLSS) terminology and procedures, modern survey methods and survey devices (Trimble).Oil & gas pipeline or related industry experience a plus.Project management experienceExperience with boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, easements and writing legal descriptionsFamiliarity with oil and gas pipelines and facilitiesProficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCad and Trimble softwareProficient with survey equipment including total station and GPSStrong communication and writing skillsMust be willing to complete field operations for a variety of projectsSupervisory experience WHY WORK FOR LAKE SUPERIOR CONSULTING?Our Growth is Your Opportunity:Our growth creates an environment for our current employees to gain new skills and take advantage of promotional opportunities.
