Reliability EngineerUS-AL-Bessemer (AL Works)ApplyJob Description Identifies and manages asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. Primary focus is on loss elimination, risk management, life cycle asset management, and reduction of maintenance costs. Track the production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets, determines ways to reduce these associated losses and/or high costs. Prioritizes efforts on the largest/most critical opportunities. Develops plans to eliminate or reduce the losses through root cause analysis, obtains approval of the plan from Maintenance Manager and facilitates the implementation. Develops standard work procedures for maintenance department and activities regarding preventive maintenance, repairs, and setup of equipment, and trains craftsmen to perform these activities. Manages and leads all 8D and 5Why problem solving metrics, creates teams, leads discussions. Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans of new equipment. Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers. Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria. Works with Production to perform analysis of assets including; Asset utilization, Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), Remaining useful life, Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets. Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel. Immediately advises site leadership of any significant maintenance problems causing or having the potential to cause delays or shutdowns of operations and works expediently toward a resolution of the issues. Partners with the production leadership team to develop operating procedures that help sustain reliability and that incorporate operator preventive maintenance activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills & RequirementsA minimum of a BS Degree in Industrial Management or Engineering and a minimum of 7 -10 years of maintenance and/or reliability or planning experience in a fast paced manufacturing or construction environment. Must have at least 3 to 5 years of previous supervisor, leader person, and/ team leader experience over hourly maintenance personnel. Previous experience in a ductile iron pipe facility is a plus. Previous reliability, engineering, electrical and/or mechanical training or certification is a plus.Proven supervisory experience is required.Ability to develop training material and to train and develop craftsmen to perform precision maintenance.Strong oral and written communication skillsStrong analytical and problem solving skills.Strong presentation and public speaking skills.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines.Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.Good understanding of safety and the desire to following all established procedures are required.Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint software. Previous SAP knowledge is a plus.Must be able to utilize the following tools to identify and reduce risk:SFMEA - Failure modes and effects analysisCA - Criticality analysisFTA - Fault tree analysisRCA - Root Cause AnalysisSDL2017
