About the Job


The University of Minnesota Duluth Fine Arts Academy seeks to develop a pool of candidates for part-time Teaching Specialists to teach non-collegiate level music lessons and/or group classes. The Fine Arts Academy receives applications on a continuous basis with part-time appointments filled as required by the needs of the department. Duties may include teaching music lessons to children in grades K-12 and adults; coaching students for studio recitals, maintaining student rosters, scheduling lessons and classes, attending staff meetings, and occasional community performances; teaching music classes to children of all levels and abilities; or teaching music and movement classes to young children.
Qualifications


Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in music from a regionally accredited institution; a minimum of two years demonstrated success and experience teaching early childhood music and/or K-12 music education classes and/or music lessons at the K-12 level; evidence of successful professional experience at a regional level; evidence of effective written communication skills as demonstrated within letter of application; written teaching philosophy statement and statement of ability to support the University's commitment of equity and diversity. Preferred qualifications include:
Master's degree in music from a regionally accredited institution; five years demonstrated success and experience teaching music courses and/or music lessons at the K-12 level; evidence of successful professional experience in music at the state and/or national level, demonstrated evidence of effective teaching and communication skills, a record of successful oral and interpersonal skills, and proven ability to support the University's commitment to equity and diversity.
About the Department


The Fine Arts Academy Mission is to deepen the lives of its students and enrich the communities it serves through programs centered in arts education and engagement. A unit of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the Academy is a non-degree granting department serving students of all ages and levels. The Fine Arts Academy is a certified member of the National Guild to Community Arts Education and its music programs are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
