Certified Respiratory Therapist Location: Ashland, WI Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,386 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 40 hours per week Experience: 5 years License: Yes Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP Must-Have: Epic experience preferred Description: Confirm housing has been looked at in the area as it can be challenging to find or too expensive. Number of treatments per day ranges from 4 to 8 treatments per round. Types of patients include mostly adults and some pediatrics. Typically stabilize patients until transfer. Minimal cases are admitted. Respiratory therapists will attend high-risk c-sections and assist with positive pressure ventilation if needed before transfer. Areas covered include emergency room, special care unit, obstetrics with high-risk c-sections, stress lab, pulmonary function lab, and EEG lab. Outpatient training and competency are dependent on contract length and availability. Experience with mechanical ventilation including non-invasive ventilation is required. Candidates should be familiar with all types of inhalation therapy, EKGs, and arterial blood gases. One year of experience is necessary. Job duties include drawing arterial blood gases, performing EKGs using ISTAT, and setting up Holter monitors. Respiratory therapists are required to assist with intubation but not to perform it independently. The department's director supervises the respiratory therapists. Shifts include both days and nights. Night shifts work independently, and lunch is paid while working alone. Some block schedules may be granted, but flexibility is essential. Candidates should be willing to work both days and nights. Every other weekend is a requirement. If on a block schedule, candidates are expected to work the holiday that it falls on and fill in as needed. There is no call or standby call requirement. Professional scrubs of any color are permitted. Respiratory therapists will use Hamilton C1s and T1s, as well as ResMed home CPAP and BIPAP. During the day, hospitalists or intensivists are in-house. An on-call service is available at night to assist with ventilator management. Clinic doctors cover their patients in the hospital. Department-specific orientation includes one 12-hour shift of shadowing. The director will ensure access to all necessary systems.
