Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days, Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP Must-Have: Epic experience preferred Description: The role involves providing respiratory therapy services. The therapist will perform 4-8 treatments per round daily. Patients will predominantly be adults, with some pediatric cases. The role includes stabilizing patients before transfer, with minimal admissions. Neonates (up to 28 days) will require support at high risk C-sections, including assistance with positive pressure ventilation if necessary. Areas covered include emergency rooms, specialized care units, obstetrics with high-risk C-sections, stress labs, pulmonary function testing labs, and electroencephalography labs. Outpatient training and competency will depend on contract length and availability. Experience with mechanical ventilation, including non-invasive ventilation, is essential. The therapist should have experience with all types of inhalation therapy, EKGs, arterial blood gases, and ISTAT. The job duties include drawing arterial blood gases and performing EKGs with ISTAT. Holter monitor setup is also part of the responsibilities. Respiratory therapists will assist with intubations but are not required to perform them independently. The director of cardiopulmonary will oversee the respiratory therapy team. Shifts include both days and nights, with night shifts working independently. Lunch is paid during night shifts. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with some block scheduling available for a few therapists. Every other weekend commitment is required. Holiday work is expected based on the block schedule. No call or standby call requirement is in place. Professional scrub attire is required, with no specific color mandated. The team will use specific respiratory equipment consistent with industry standards. There will be hospitalists or intensivists available during the day and on-call support during the night. Clinic doctors will cover their patients within the facility. A one-day shadowing session will be arranged for department-specific orientation.
