    Job Summary

    This position works in DEED's Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) Division, which empowers Minnesotans with disabilities to achieve their goals for competitive, integrated employment and career development.

    This position exists to support the Disability Innovation Fund (DIF) grant award entitled Go MN!. The Business Engagement Specialist will help rollout and establish the new, innovative pilot program supporting individuals with disabilities as they explore career opportunities in the transportation industry. This position focuses on building a network of partnerships in Northeastern Minnesota that links needs in the high-growth/high-demand transportation industry with work experience opportunities for people with disabilities. Additionally, this position provides leadership in implementing Go MN!'s Progressive Employment strategy.

    Specifically, the Business Engagement Specialist:
    • Facilitates robust and effective outreach to community partners and helps market the Go MN! program to stakeholders such as local businesses and employer associations.
    • Works directly with local businesses to provide information on the Go MN! program and helps coordinate opportunities for job seekers to explore careers in the transportation industry with local businesses.
    • Helps build and establish a network of providers of Go MN! services and facilitates coordination of career exploration opportunities with all relevant stakeholders.
    • Works with VRS staff as a Go MN! program representative to provide information and technical assistance regarding the program.
    • Documents outreach efforts and services provided to stakeholders for reporting purposes and to identify opportunities to improve the Go MN! program.

      Qualifications

      Minimum Qualifications

      To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.
      • Two (2) years of professional experience in sales, marketing, communications, or community engagement, demonstrating human relation and communication skills necessary to build and foster partnerships with stakeholders.

        Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:
        • Leadership and project management skills sufficient to lead and manage details of complex projects.
        • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
        • Proficient at using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, Project Management Software) or the ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
        • Incumbent must maintain valid driver's license, & insurance, OR have other reliable transportation.

          Preferred Qualifications
          • Experience providing business engagement opportunities on behalf of people with disabilities.
          • Experience working with employment-related issues that impact those with disabilities.
          • Experience with state laws, rules, regulations, trends, and best practices regarding hiring, training, and reasonable accommodations for job seekers and employees.
          • Experience developing reports, executing communication plans, and building shared processes and procedures.
