The Dean of Enrollment Management provides oversight and supervision for the college's enrollment management process including recruitment and admission functions. The Dean will be expected to work in collaboration with college faculty and staff to coordinate the implementation of policy and strategic initiatives with the day-to-day activities and responsibilities on each of the campuses and within the communities they serve.

The Dean reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and is expected to make evidence-based recommendations that support the college's long-term strategic plan and increase student admission and enrollment.

Functions:

  • Ensure the successful implementation of results-oriented college-wide recruitment, admission, and enrollment processes through collaboration with faculty and other college personnel.
  • Analyze internal and external recruitment, admission, and retention market data to adjust to quickly changing college and enrollment needs and trends.
  • Report and make recommendations as needed to the President and President's Cabinet regarding all student recruitment activities and strategies.
  • Recommend and participate in the development of policy as necessary to properly implement effective enrollment services and student support programs. Carries out, explains, interprets, and enforces policy. Ensures college policies are in line with VCCS policies. Approves special provision for admission to the college; excluding selective admission programs such as nursing or other health professions.
  • Work strategically with Marketing and Communications to ensure the development of engaging recruitment, outreach, and other related materials and messages that assist prospective students in understanding career potential, labor market demands, and employability.
  • Exercise direct responsibility for developing and monitoring college-wide recruitment and admission budgets.
  • Stay abreast of new developments and innovative enrollment management practices in community colleges and higher education and recommend changes to maintain relevance of programs and services to meet student needs.
  • Provide regular communication among areas of responsibility to enable sharing of best practices and consistency of procedures across campuses and to foster college-wide support and collaboration. Monitor and coordinate enrollment processes across all campuses. Work with campus staff to ensure all applicants and prospective students are supported.
  • Conduct area program reviews to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications
    • Progressively responsible experience working as an enrollment management professional in higher education administration, preferably in a community college setting.
    • Extensive knowledge of the current higher education landscape, in particular at the community college level.
    • Knowledge of and experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating services related to student recruitment, admission, and enrollment such as high school initiatives, community outreach programs, and partnerships with community organizations that support higher education attainment.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, trends, forecasting enrollment growth patterns and demands to respond to labor market and job trends.
    • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in creating and evaluating intentional effective and efficient recruitment and admission processes.
    • Strong cultural competency and successful experience providing and guiding responsive services for individuals and communities with historically marginalized identities.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, large, complex environment, preferably in a higher education setting.
    • Demonstrated ability to work professionally, effectively, and tactfully with students, administrators, faculty, staff, and the public.
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with standard software applications including, word processing, spreadsheets, database programs, and presentation programs.
    • Direct experience and strong knowledge in recruitment management related software platforms (e.g., CRM software).
    • Familiarity with student information systems used in higher education preferred.
    • Experience in supervision of an area within student affairs.
    • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university; doctorate preferred. Preferred Qualifications As delineated in the Required Qualifications Section.
