Description Great Expectations Charter School seeks a qualified
individual to fill the role of Executive Director as we continue

-- A passion for life-long learning The Director of Great
Expectations Charter School (GES) operates under the GES School
Board's policy direction as well as in compliance with state and
federal laws governing charter schools. The Director is ultimately
accountable for GES instruction and assessment, human resources and
personnel, financial planning, legal compliance, effective
communication, and school community relationship building. The
Director contributes to creating a safe, structured, and joyful
learning community that fosters a lifelong love of learning;
leading with clarity and resolve while handling challenges and
obstacles with heart and humility. Demonstrating unending passion
for the GES mission, the Director will be on-site during student
contact days and will work as needed to accomplish school goals
throughout the year. Qualifications Candidates will be able to
provide objective evidence of the following essential and desired
qualifications: Essential:
-- Formal education in school administration or willingness to
pursue
-- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
-- 3 years of teaching experience
-- 3 years of administrative experience or business leadership of
similar scope/complexity Desired:
-- Current Elementary Teaching license
-- Master's degree in administration or education
-- Principal or Superintendent licensure
-- 3 years of charter school leadership experience
-- Familiarity with Special Education procedures, licensure
-- Evidence of work experience in positive, creative & inclusive
school settings Work experience demonstrating the following
competencies:
-- Creative problem solving and improvising skills to meet the
needs of a thriving school where resources are sometimes
limited
-- Translating organizational vision and mission into strategies
and work plans that drive action and produce positive results
-- Developing strong relationships at all levels throughout the
school community Institution Description JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction and Assessment
-- Facilitate the development of curriculum with educators and
document the master curriculum plan, including assessment progress
reporting
-- Evaluate results from assessments including MAPS, FastBridge,
and MCA testing to monitor and support student achievement
-- Provide summaries of student achievement and progress towards
Authorizer goals quarterly to the Board and annually to the
Authorizer and other stakeholders, as required
-- Work with a variety of stakeholders including educators,
parents, and others to identify program goals and document data to
inform World's Best Workforce reporting
Human Resources and Personnel
-- Take responsibility for modelling the Responsive Classroom
approach to establish a school environment of trust and respect,
and ensure its school-wide use fostering student and staff
responsibility and accountability
-- Oversee staff screening, hiring, onboarding, professional
development, and licensure, including discipline and dismissal
-- Conduct staff evaluations annually and set schedules for
performance feedback for new employees
-- Set salaries for staff within constraints of the budget,
communicate salaries to business manager
Financial Management
-- Oversee the formation and implementation of the annual
budgets
-- Ensure execution of the Financial Policies
-- Accountable to the Board for meeting financial goals, as
established by Financial Policy, the Authorizer goals, and MDE, and
report on them quarterly
-- Create grant planning, narratives, and final reports for
federal, state and local awards. Accept, add narrative, and sign
applications in SERVS
Legal and Compliance Management
-- Educate and lead the board in policy and by-law compliance, as
aligns with MACS
-- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws
related to governance of charter schools
-- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements of MDE and the
school authorizer
-- Collaborate with the Special Ed Director to oversee compliance
with Special Ed program
Effective Communication
-- Ensure a safe physical and emotional environment for students
and staff through positive framing, proactive rather than reactive
management, kind communication with students and adults,
predictability, and consistent routine
-- Communicate with families regularly, with newsletters, emails,
phone calls, and meetings as required by student performance
-- Engage with families through student work celebrations several
times a year and at conferences
-- Demonstrate a passion for education and the school's mission;
communicate through publications, radio updates, and service on
relevant community boards
Board, Authorizer and Community Relationship building
-- Provide a Director's Report monthly for the Board on school
current events and broader school issues
-- Submit materials on time as requested to the Authorizer
-- Strengthen the sense of school and community connection by
engaging students and teachers with local resources, volunteers,
and the surrounding environment
-- Plan and communicate with Great Expectations Foundation to
ensure safe and appropriate building and grounds use and
maintenance; report on GEF activities and progress to the board
