The Department of Chemical Engineering in the Swenson College of
Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Duluth
(UMD) seeks applications for a postdoctoral associate (job code
9546) to work on ongoing research projects in the area of
mathematical modeling, simulation, optimization, measurement, and
process control in chemical engineering and mineral processing. The
selected applicant will work at UMD and be mentored by Professor
Weiguo Xie, at the Department of Chemical Engineering. This is a
12-month position beginning Janaury 4, 2023 or later. The initial
appointment will be for one year with further appointments
contingent upon performance and funding. Individuals with research
accomplishments in measurement techniques, chemical reaction,
minerals characterization, separation technologies, and
computational modeling would be particularly qualified for this
position. A competitive salary will be commensurate with education

Responsibilities:* Participation in the execution and management of
the ongoing research project work; * Participation in field,
laboratory and analytical work for the ongoing research projects; *
Participation in writing of research reports, articles for
publications and research proposals; * Participation in preparation
of research related presentations and attending research
meetings.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: * Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering,
mineral processing or related discipline; * Excellent laboratory
and analytical skills; * Excellent written communication skills to
support quality research reporting and publications; * Potential
for developing proposals for new research projects; * Demonstrated
ability to work in a team environment with colleagues from diverse
backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications: * Research experience in the
area of measurement techniques / chemical reaction / minerals
characterization / separation technologies / computational
modeling;* Experience in numerical-analysis software; * Potential
for bringing in new research ideas; * A record of publications in
peer reviewed conferences and journals.
