The University of Minnesota Duluth Department of Music seeks to
develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary full or
part-time Instructor/Assistant Professor of Music to teach Fall
2022 and Spring 2023. Persons selected will teach lower and/or
upper division day and/or evening music courses and/or individual
applied lessons to a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate
students that cannot be staffed by regular faculty. Appointments
are usually made on a semester-by-semester basis for fall and
spring semester contingent upon student enrollment and the
availability of funding.
Qualifications
Required/Essential Qualifications:For Instructor level positions,
applicants must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Music from a
regionally accredited institution. For positions at the rank of
Assistant Professor, applicants must have a completed doctorate in
music (DMA, DA, PhD, EdD) from a regionally accredited institution.
All applicants must have a minimum of two years demonstrated
success and experience teaching music courses and/or music lessons
at the K-12 level and/or collegiate level, evidence of successful
professional experience in music at the regional level, and
evidence of good written communication skills through a written
statement of teaching philosophy and statement of ability to
support the University's commitment to equity and diversity.
Preferred qualifications:Preferred qualifications include a minimum
of three years demonstrated success and experience teaching music
courses and/or music lessons at the collegiate level, demonstrated
evidence of successful professional experience in music at the
state and/or national level, demonstrated evidence of effective
teaching and communication skills, and a record of success working
cooperatively and collaboratively with music colleagues.
