Job Description:
Job SummaryA Guaranteed Extra Board Dock Clerk performs a
variety of duties for the Duluth and Two Harbors Ore Docks
including: inventory management (processing train and vessel
movements), communication with internal and external customers and
vendors, manpower scheduling and communication, warehouse duties
(including operating a fork lift) and maintaining a variety of
records. Work assignments are determined in accordance with the
applicable collective bargaining agreement.Major
Responsibilities--- Prepare data using computer terminals---
Perform all functions of the Dock Information Systems to include by
not limited to shipping boats, obtaining accurate weight sheets for
trains coming to the Duluth and Two Harbors Docks. --- Perform
callouts for work force needs in accordance to the various union
agreements.--- Record, maintain, and provide train and vessel
arrival, departure, and other related information--- Provide
customers accurate messages indicating inventory status.---
Communicate train orders, movement instructions, and other
information to internal and external stakeholders.--- Operating
vehicles and fork lift.--- Communicate by telephone and email to
complete various tasks and instructions--- Maintaining Working
Boards, including creating bulletins and awarding positions,
bumping, vacancies and any other occurrence.--- Maintain timely
Staff Actions for change of positions, medical, furloughed, etc.---
Maintain storehouse inventory levels at appropriate levels through
issuances, orders, and audit requirements.--- Perform other
essential functions as assignedWorking Conditions--- Regular
schedule but has the ability to change schedule to cover vacancies
as needed. Possible mandatory overtime, day and night hours,
weekends and holidays--- An irregular on-call work schedule--- Work
indoors and outdoors (depending on assignment), sitting for a
prolonged period of time--- Ability to stoop, bend, climb, kneel,
crouch, balance, and walk on uneven surfaces--- May be required to
lift and/or carry up to 50 lbsRequirements--- Must be 18 years of
age--- Must have a high school diploma or GED--- Must have a valid
driver's license--- Must be certified or pass certification
operating fork lift.--- Must have experience or general knowledge
of SAP System, SharePoint, Excel, Access, Word and Power Point
applications.--- Must qualify on all covered Dock positions for
guarantee.--- Must have reliable and regular attendance--- Ability
to maintain an overall level of safety awareness in the work
environment--- Ability to understand and provide written and oral
communications--- Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot while
working autonomously--- Ability to prioritize, multitask and have
good organization skills--- Exceptional ability to work
autonomously, adapt to different situations and multi-task---
Demonstration of good teamwork skills and ability to maintain
positive interactions with others--- Good verbal, reading
comprehension and writing skills, ability to analyze a situation
and make decisions effectively--- Customer-service focus and
dedication to meeting established standards of quality and
safety--- Successfully complete a typing/data entry assessment, and
have computer literacyTrainingCandidates will undergo on the job
training. The training program involves job shadowing and practical
application and is typically 45 working days in duration per each
role trained. Work location: Duluth Docks is the headquarters but
this role supports both the Duluth and Two Harbors locations and
may need to fill vacancies at both ports.UnionThe Guaranteed Extra
Board Dock Clerk role is a unionized position and is part of the
TCU (Transportation Communication Union). Wages, initiation fees,
and monthly dues are required as outlined in the collective
